Region 8 Spring Training 2018

Sawtooth Martial Arts will be hosting the Region 8 Spring Training in Sun Valley, Idaho on April 27-28, 2018.

Theme:  Tradition (Jon Tong)

Emphasis: Energy Work (Ki Gong), Kicking Techniques (Jok Ki) & Ground Sparring (Jua Dae Ryun)

Special Guest: Master Chris Austin, Region 1, Australia Soo Bahk Do Moo Duk Kwan Federation

Master Chris Austin will be 80 years of age in 2018.  His instructor was Soo Bahk Do Moo Duk Kwan Founder, Hwang Kee.  He has been involved in the Martial and Healing Arts for most of his life and has studied and researched extensively in China and South Korea.  He has been trained by Chi Gong masters, doctors of traditional medicine and martial arts/medical monks.  He was elected President and Chief Instructor of the Australian Soo Bahk Do Moo Duk Kwan Federation and became the Founder, Hwang Kee’s designee for Australia.  In 1997, he was awarded the Order of Australia Medal (OAM) for services to the community, conferred by Her Majesty the Queen of England.

This is a rare opportunity to connect with such an esteemed guest.

BANQUET

The banquet will be held at the Sawtooth Club, 231 Main Street, Ketchum (see map).  Availability will be limited to 90 people, with no late registration once we reach 90 people.

Yu Dan Ja and Ko Dan Ja  Workout

  •  Any member who is not testing and is not a potential candidate for the 142nd or 143rd Dan Classings are eligible to attend this session.

Potential Candidate Workout

  • Instructors and potential candidates will get direct feedback on how to reach full potential for the next Shim Sa.  The T.A.C. and R.E.X. will be providing guidance.
  • Who can attend?  Any student who will be eligible to test at the 142nd or 143rd Dan Classings (must be at least a 1st Gup red belt)

Dan Clinic (Friday)

  • Hyung Clinic
  • Who can attend?  Dan members

Neh Gong Clinic

  • Integrated Breathing, Stretching and Movement class
  • Who can attend?  Any age and ability as well as the general public (no charge for the general public to attend)

All Rank Clinic (Saturday)

  • Adult Gups

VENUE & ACCOMODATIONS

 The Region 8, Region 8 Spring Training clinics will be held on April 27-28th, 2018 at the legendary Sun Valley Resort, the country’s first destination ski lodge about to turn 80 years, which has completed a major $51 million renovation and refurbishment.
A group room rate is available as follows:
Inn Traditional One Queen bed, $125 per night plus resort fee and tax
Inn Traditional Two Double Beds, $130 per night plus resort fee and tax
