“I moved to Western Colorado from the Chicago area in 1998 and started training at Griggs Sa Bom Nim’s dojang soon after. I was hooked halfway through my first class. I didn’t know at the time where my training would lead but I knew Soo Bahk Do was an activity I wanted to continue. Twenty four years later, I own and operate a studio in New Castle, Colorado and serve our organization at the regional, national and international level. I’m grateful for my instructor’s guidance and support and the support of other seniors in our region, and I’m happy to have the opportunity to assist other Region 8 members on their Soo Bahk Do journey.”
Susan Fittanto, Sa Bom Nim, is the owner and chief instructor at Rocky Mountain Martial Arts in New Castle, Colorado. She has been training in Soo Bahk Do since 1998.
She has been a Board representative for Region 8 and has served on the Board in various capacities, including Treasurer, Vice Chair, and Chair. She is currently on the Board Finance Committee.
She was appointed by HC Hwang Kwan Jang Nim to serve as Technical Advisory Committee Assistant in 2017, and she is on the World Moo Duk Kwan Youth Leader Program Senior Advisory Team.
In 2020, Fittanto Sa Bom Nim was appointed by the Chairman of the Technical Advisory Committee to officiate as the Regional Examiner for Region 8.
Fittanto Sa Bom Nim has won numerous national awards in competitions including championships in Hyung and sparring.
